I was flying back home after a long business trip, utterly exhausted and desperate for some peace and quiet. Unfortunately, that was too much to ask for on this particular flight. I had splurged on an economy seat with a bit of extra legroom, hoping to at least be somewhat comfortable for the long journey. However, my hopes were quickly dashed when I realized who was sitting just a few rows ahead of me in business class. This man, who looked to be in his late 40s, was the epitome of entitlement. From the moment he boarded, he acted like he owned the entire plane. He barked orders at the flight attendants, complained about the temperature, and generally made everyone around him miserable. At first, I tried to ignore him, hoping that he would eventually tire himself out. But his behavior only escalated as the flight went on. The first incident occurred when a mother with a small baby sat down a few rows behind him. As any parent knows, babies cry, especially on airplanes where the pressure changes can be uncomfortable. But this man had absolutely no patience or empathy. He turned around in his seat and started yelling at the mother, telling her to control her child and that he didn’t pay for a business class ticket to listen to a screaming infant. The poor woman was mortified and tried her best to soothe her baby, but the man continued to berate her.

Next, he began to complain about the service. He demanded that the flight attendants bring him a specific type of wine that they didn’t have, and when they offered him an alternative, he scoffed and said it was beneath him. He then proceeded to criticize the food, even though it was the same meal served to everyone else in business class. He claimed it was tasteless and that he could cook better himself. The flight attendants tried to appease him, but nothing seemed to satisfy him.
Then came the incident with the sauce. During the meal service, the flight attendant accidentally spilled a small amount of sauce on his shirt. It was barely noticeable, but the man acted like he had been drenched in it. He erupted in a fit of rage, shouting at the flight attendant and accusing her of being incompetent. He then [“GRABBED THE SAUCE PACKET AND THREW IT AT HER”], splattering her uniform. The poor woman was visibly shaken and on the verge of tears.
But the worst was yet to come. After the sauce incident, the man continued to rant and rave, making increasingly offensive comments. At one point, he turned to the flight attendant and said, [“FLIGHT ATTENDANTS LIKE YOU SCARE PASSENGERS! GET LOST – SEND YOUR PRETTY COWORKER!”] Everyone on the plane was stunned into silence. No one dared to say a word to him, fearing that they would become his next target. The tension in the cabin was palpable.
That’s when the **14-year-old boy** sitting next to me did the unthinkable. After that last disgusting outburst, the boy stood up, grabbed his backpack, and slowly walked toward the man. He was silent, you could feel everyone collectively hold their breaths. He reached in and grabbed his phone, [“HE HELD IT UP AND SAID, I HAVE RECORDED EVERYTHING YOU’VE DONE, I HOPE YOU’RE HAPPY.” ] and then walked back to his seat. You could hear a pin drop.
