I Thought I Knew My Husband, But I Was So Wrong!

That day started like any other Tuesday. My husband, Mark, was at work and wasn’t supposed to be home for at least another three hours. I was in the middle of cleaning, trying to get the house in order before I tackled the mountain of laundry that was threatening to overflow from the hamper. I had the music blasting and was actually enjoying myself, lost in the rhythm and the satisfaction of making things sparkle. Everything felt normal, ordinary, blissfully uneventful. Then, suddenly, there was a knock at the door. It startled me so badly that I nearly dropped the bottle of window cleaner I was holding. I glanced at the clock, a flicker of confusion crossing my mind. Mark wasn’t due home for hours. Could it be the mailman? Or perhaps a neighbor needing a cup of sugar? With a shrug, I set the cleaner down and padded toward the door, a sense of mild curiosity bubbling up inside me. I opened the door, and there he was. Or at least, I *thought* it was him. My husband, Mark, stood on the porch, his face pale and drawn. He looked undeniably unwell. “Why are you home so early?” I asked, a knot of concern tightening in my stomach. “I wasn’t feeling well,” he replied, his voice sounding strained and raspy. “So my boss let me leave early.” He walked right past me, heading straight for our bedroom. Something about his demeanor, the way he avoided my gaze, felt profoundly *off*.

Driven by a prickling unease, I followed him. I told myself I was just being concerned, that his sudden illness had me on edge. But deep down, a nagging voice whispered that something was terribly wrong. As I reached the bedroom door, I hesitated for a moment, a wave of apprehension washing over me. I took a deep breath and pushed the door open.

And what I saw in that instant shattered my world into a million irreparable pieces. It wasn’t Mark in our bed. It was another man who looked exactly like Mark. The other man was wearing the exact same clothes and had the exact same facial features. **MY JAW DROPPED!**

Both men were startled by my presence. It appeared that they were identical twins. They did not know I had no idea he even had a twin! **I STOOD THERE AGHAST!**

Both men began talking at once, trying to explain the situation. My Mark told me that they wanted it to be a surprise and that they were both looking forward to having me get to know his brother. I told them they should both leave and that I was starting divorce proceedings right away. [“I DON’T KNOW WHICH ONE I HATE MORE!”]
